Scripture - John 3:1-15
Part three of a challenging series asking the questions, "What is the Gospel?" and"Why and how do we share?"
- The necessity of the new birth
- http-83/www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?q=ezekial+36 22-28 - This is a reference to the new birth.
- http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?q=titus+3:4-6 - Washing, cleaning and a new birth.

However, we do not perceive ourselves as dead. Like Nicodemus we are in denial. When we share Christ, this is the part we cannot simply "convince" people of. Christ says in this passage, first, you cannot "see" it, then secondly that you cannot enter it.
"Jesus did not come to make bad men good, but to make dead men live."
Dead men's reaction to Christ is to kill him, so how do we know the gospel in this state? John 3:19-20
The life giving affect of the Spirit. The light of God's Spirit shown on our hearts.
New life proceeds faith.
1 Peter 1:23
Deutoronomy 4:6
Phillipians 4:29
Acts 5:31
Ephesisans 2:8-9
2 Timothy 2:24
Acts 11:17-18
What do we do in evangelism? Why would God choose us, instead of angels or something else.
v. 7 to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.
Romans 10:15
We cannot manufacture believers or coherse them to Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:2
We simply proclaim the truth openly.
OT illustration of evangelism. Ezekial 37:1-14 - Valley of the dry bones.
Thoughts: As the chruch how do we react to this message. Are we dry bones? Shane is right the style isn't the problem. But if the light is shining in us, then should not our lives be shining the joy of God's Spirit.
